An Easy Guide to Printing Umbrellas

The concept of using branded umbrellas as a marketing tool has been around for years. Printing your logo to personalise an umbrella is one of the easiest and most rewarding ways to promote your brand. There’s so many different ways you can customise a commercial umbrella- from choosing the canopy colour to adding logo discs to the handle. The order process for branded umbrellas is pretty straight forward, however if this your first experience with printing terminology, it can be a bit confusing.

As a little help, we’ve prepared an easy to understand guide to branded umbrella printing. Screen Printing Process for Branded Umbrellas This is the most common method we use for printing our branded umbrellas. Your digital logo is transferred onto a mesh stencil (silk screen). The screen is then used to transfer ink onto an umbrella panel, except in those areas made resistant to the ink by a blocking stencil. A squeegee is used to push ink through the stencil onto the umbrella. Gently lifting the screen away from the umbrella will show the image has been transferred onto a panel. If multi-colour prints are required then this procedure is repeated one colour per screen. Soft Feel Printing Process for Branded Umbrellas For the orders that require a full panel print or there’s shading in the logos artwork, we offer soft feel printing. Soft feel print involves transferring your design from paper to the fabric panels. To do this, both paper and fabric are fed through a hot roller which turns the ink into a gas, and staining the fabric panels. Staining the fabric means no colour deterioration will occur. Hopefully the above description makes the printing process a little bit more clear and will help you in planning your order.
